Here is my quick Tutorial on how I installed my pioneer deck. Sorry for the low quality photo's. Tools Needed: Electrical Tape 10mm Ratchet Socket w/ Extension Phillip's Screw driver Parts Needed: Scosche Scion 2004-Up. SCN2056 (Stereo Harness) $15.95 Free Shipping Scosche 1987-Up Toyota TA02 (Wire Harness) $9.95 Free Shipping Estimated Time: 30-45 minutes (you may be quicker but it took me about 30 mins., then again I was taking photo's too.) Steps: You'll need to start by removing, cover from around the shifter. In order to do this you will want to hold down your brake, while doing this turn the key in to the "ACC" position, and shift your shifter to "N" and pull your "E-Brake". (wouldn't want your car rolling away.) Then start pulling gently toward yourself on the cover around your shifter being careful not to break it. There should be four clips, two toward the top, and two toward the bottom. (If you need more help feel free to message me.) Once you have removed the cover you'll want to unplug your cigarette lighter. (Be careful not to scratch your cover.) Next you'll want to pull off the cover from around the radio. Simply start by pulling on the outside and it should pop right off. (Make sure the movable radio cover is closed, like shown in the photo.) Once you have the cover from around the radio off make sure to unplug the wire's for the clock and control's. (The wire should look like below. Again be careful not to scratch anything.) Once you have completed that you will need to remove the factory radio. This is fairly simply you'll need a "10mm Ratchet w/ extension" for the top two bolt's and a "Phillip's screw driver" for the bottom two screws. (Be careful not to lose the screws or bolt's) Once you have finished this step you'll need to pull out the stock radio, and pull both plugs, and the antenna out. (The Antenna is the wire on the far right in the photo below.) Once you have finished unplugging the wire's, you'll want to take and twist the wire's together, when you open the wire harness (TA02) you will see there are two plugs: One contains: Green - Left Rear Positive (LR+) Green/Black - Left Rear Negative (LR-) Violet - Right Rear Positive (RR+) Violet/Black - Right Rear Negative (RR-) The Other contains: Yellow - 12 Volt Battery/Constant (12V+) Red - 12 Volt Ignition/Switched (12V+) Blue - Power Antenna (Not Used) Blue/White - Remote Turn On (12V+) (Used for Amp) Orange - Illumination/Dimmer (Not Used) Black - Chassis Ground (12V-) White - Left Front Positive (LF+) White/Black - Left Front Negative (LF-) Gray - Right Front Positive (RF+) Gray/Black - Right Front Negative (RF-) (This is labeled on the back of the package for the wire harness) I Simply Twisted and Electrical taped them together. Like Shown Below, All you have to do is match the color's together, I taped the end separate on the Orange & Blue (so they don't make contact with anything) and then taped them both out of the way.. (This is the way I have found easiest to install the radio on mine, there are other way's you may prefer better.) Once you have done the electrical you'll have to just read the instruction's for the In-Dash Install Kit (SCN2056) You will need to do some trimming on the kit, Unfortunately I don't have photo's of this. Once you have done that all you have to do is simply plug the wire harness into the factory wire's just match each one with the proper size, and plug the Antenna wire into your CD Player. Then slide the radio into the In-Dash Install Kit (SCN2056) and finish plugging the wire into the back of your new radio. From here you'll have to put the two 10mm bolt's back onto the top and the two bottom screw's on the bottom where you had removed them. (being careful not to drop them) (Not Secured in yet) Your just about finished, from here you'll have to put back on the cover around the radio, make sure the radio cover door is closed while putting the cover back on. (Don't forget to plug back in your clock.) Install back the cover around the shifter and make sure to return your car back to park. (So you can remove your key) You should have something like this. If you have any question's please feel free to message me. Sorry if this DIY is hard to understand as it is my first. If you see any error's please let me know thanks. ![]() ![]() Scion Wiki ~~ |

nice DIY, but i would strongly suggest you use but connectors instead of twisting on taping them, for one its a better connection and you dont need to worry about them falling apart when you put the radio in, or after time the heat will cause the tape to fall off and you could short out the radio |

Seems like a great write up, but I can't see the pictures. Can you post the pics again or can you post links to the pics. I am thinking about installing one pretty soon. Thanks a lot |

Well I seem to have lost some of the pictures, or they never came off of the camera correctly, but here is what I have. Also, I KNOW that I didnt use metal connectors on my stuff, I never have and I never will. I used electrical tape to secure my wires together. Please no lectures on why I shouldnt do this, Ive done it for years, and I will never change this. This is a picture of the paneling taken off, and the wiring harness already connected to the stock wiring. Just follow the directions in the DIY, and you will get to this portion of the install very shortly. ![]() Here is a picture of the unit when secured after wiring has been done. ![]() Remove the panelling around the shifter before removing the top panelling. The shifter knob easily unscrews, allowing you to remove this panel. ![]() I routed the USB cable for my stereo through the glove box here, very easy to do. You will see how to do it when you pull the panelling off. ![]() ![]() Fairly simple install, except mine had some minor issues. My 12v constant (yellow) wires, were not holding a charge when the ignition shut off, killing the memory in my cd player. I had to run a wire to my battery the same way I ran my amplifier power cable. I then bought a 30amp fuse for the wire, in case something happens, it will protect my cd player. ![]() The SEARCH feature on the site works, I promise. USE IT!!!
