 It's Official: Toyota announces xB, xA phase out date


I found this on autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/category/scion/) :

Toyota has announced that production of its 2006 Scion xA and xB will end in December, and that the two economy cars that kicked things off for Scion will be replaced next spring by two all-new models wearing 2008 badges. That means technically speaking Scion will have but a single car available for model year 2007, the tC coupe.

Scion's vice president Mark Templin gave no other information regarding the upcoming replacements, except their estimated time of arrival. The success of the Scion brand can be largely attributed to the splash made by the xA and xB when they hit U.S. shores in June of 2004. Since then Scion has sold 72,011 units of the xA and 139,091 units of the boxy xB.


So, still no word on what the replacements will be but the speculation as to the release time frame is over.

 Really strange to completly kill a car after only one generation. I wonder if they will be similar or totally different?

 they said when they started the brand that scions would have a short lifespan, and to keep the brand fresh they'd bring in something new/phase out the old every couple of years.

Would replace current xB in 2007 calendar year.

So does that mean the end of the tC is near? The only bad thing about that is once a car is not on the market for it the aftermarket tends to lose a bit of interest, especially if the generation run was only 3-5 years.
