I think it would be a good idea since a lot of military personel are CSTC members. |

How is being in the military make you so much better then a civilian that you need special recognition? |

its not a member of saying that military members of CSTC are better than everyone else. its just a pride thing for all who are/were in the service. ![]() http://www.itsmyscion.com/armygirl718 http://www.myspace.com/navsegdamaskva |

There is no feasible way for me to determine if a user is actually part of the military (outside of possible .mil email verification?). Right now assigning badges are a manual process. I can't add this right now, sorry. Also, the badges on the site designate activity on the site, not activity outside of the site. If you guys can figure out an easy and feasible way of automatically figuring out whether a user is truly in the military, then I can certainly add functionality to handle this. I just don't want to sit around getting badge requests from users who say they are in the military when proof is hard to come by. The only thing I can think of is email verification on military type addresses. Also, there are users here who do not live in the US. This site is open to everyone of every nation / country. It's sort of insulting to be providing US members of a particular occupation a special 'badge of honor' and not providing users from other countries that option as well. Yeah... Let's not make this thread about how much you hate the military or why you think they are better than you. Let's keep it simple. |

I have no hatred for the military. My father served 29 years and his father fought in the korean war. Military personel already have badges on there cars... displaying their rank and base where there stationed at.. |

Sqmk.. there is an easy way... every member of the armed froces has a online e-mail account that shows where they are stationed... like for example: i used to be on a ship in japan called the USS ESSEX (LHD 2) and my e-mail address was: brandon.javellana@essex.navy.mil i am now stationed at USPACOM in honolulu hawaii and my e-mail address is: brandon.javellana@pacom.mil that would be the easiest way.. considering its an online thing as well.. they would have to send a moderator an e-mail from that account.. and anyone in any branch saying they are un able to do it is lying.. because its required by congress that all branches or the military have a .mil e-mail account because e-mail took the place of hand writing letters to friends and family. ![]() BOOSTED BY: TURBOTOYOTAS! ^^ i dont know how easy that would be. but i would think it would be difficult. im just sayin tryin to find these emails would kinda make the NCIS (Navy Criminal Investigation Specialists <-ithink) would get involved why the emails are being gathered into this site.. just a guess.. i can be wrong.. bout the stickers on the cars.. well the military decals. if i had a choice id rather have them off.. cuz recent reports we had cars being broken into.. ones with only military decals or just a target for those who want to challenge a fight with military personnel. trust me theres those people out there that dont care. and last bout this badge thing. its really up to haha.. sorry for the long post.. haha. ![]() |

The idea behind badges in the first place to provided a quick link or reference to some sort of helpfulness on the site. There are badges for mechanical car knowledge, badges for those who have sold cars, badges for those that have great car detailing knowledge, photoshop badges for those willing to use their talents to photoshop cars, users that have become popular for their positive attitude on the car forum. ^see a pattern there? Although it seems nice to have a military badge, it serves no function to a car forum. This is a car forum and military preference, political views, religious views should be pushed aside. I myself have spend time at Ft. Sill Oklahoma and eventually onto Ft. Bliss TX for air defense training. I am not anti-military, I enjoy my military friends, but it doesn't have a place as a reference badge on this forum. |

JRod_TC wrote: How is being in the military make you so much better then a civilian that you need special recognition? Military soldiers risk their lives everyday to protect our country and fight for our freedom and rights. They spend months, if not years away from their families and lives to fight for our country. I'm a civilian myself, and no one in my family is in the military, but I have the utmost respect for all soldiers. I dont believe they think they are better then us at all, but I do think they deserve recognition. However, this this a car related site it would be hard to incorporate a military badge. Even though the significance of it is nice, I dont think it serves a purpose on this site. "Life is short. Break all the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that once made you smile.." |

Orin, absolutley agreed. If you would like to display your military status, that's something that can be put in your profile or on your signature. Having a military badge adds no value to a community centered around cars. It will also result in the same negative reactions listed above towards the car decals. There's no need to put something on display that will potentially result in conflict or drama. By all means, be proud of your military status, there's just no need for a badge.
