Thats what im saying. Is your turbo bad, seeing that its leaking. Im assuming since you said its leaking that your turbo is oil cooled? A car is only as good as it's driver. |

^^i know he bought it used so the guy may have knew the seals were going and that was his reason for selling! possible but maybe he didnt know.. next.. it will be cheaper to re-build the turbine but the hassle of going through it is irritating and IMO when turbo charging a N/A car new is always better.. its a matter of peace of mind know that the turbine is good to go.. know what i mean. ![]() BOOSTED BY: TURBOTOYOTAS! depending on how long and how bad the seals leaked will determine if the turbo itself is still any good or not. if you send it to get fixed they can check it over to make sure the turbo itself is good or bad. Car is being put on hold until further notice. Work will continue pending on if i get the new toy i want or not. I will keep you all posted. UPDATE ON THE TUNE. It went ok but a few little issues that are causing my performance to be less than expected have shown themselves. Now I have to resolve them when I get the chance and it will be back to PTuning for the finishing touches. Garret Turbo's FAQ wrote: What should I look out for when buying a turbo? 1. Condition of the turbine housing - inspect for cracks on the exterior and inside the inlet of the housing. If the housing has cracks then the housing needs to be replaced. 2. Condition of the turbine and compressor wheels - inspect for cracks and damaged blades. If either of the wheels are damaged then the wheel (s) need to be replaced and the center section balanced. 3. Condition of the bearings - spin the turbocharger shaft and check for roughness. If roughness is detected then the turbocharger needs to be disassembled and the internal components inspected and replaced if necessary. 4. The most important factor is to make sure the turbo is the proper one for your application. A properly matched turbo will provide better performance and more reliable operation. A properly matched turbo includes matched turbine and compressor wheel sizes and appropriate housings. perhaps this might help someone |

This link is to a DIY on rebuilding a turbo. I was reading through it and it seems easy enough that most anybody could do it. There is also some contact info at the bottom for parts suppliers. I say give it a shot. The guy that wrote it said it took 70 bucks and an afternoon. http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/turbo/turborebuild.html Even Zombies can Search... ....... .......![]() .......................................................................Why Can't You?!?!?! |

18g's are pretty easy to find if you know where you are looking. i have a few die-hard DSM friends that i will ask and see if i can find you a good deal on a newer/refurbished one that way you can weigh your options. |
