like Trung (SquallLHeart) told me, the car comes apart like legos. all you gotta do it basically pull everything off with the exception of a few screws. He is the best at that so i suggest contacting him.

I followed that same gauge cluster guide, without knowing how to solder. Had one mishap but managed to get everything done fine. Just be careful and take your time.

Seriously you can run into issues trying this yourself if you don't have any experience especially on the HVAC. I have seen so many ruined and they are not cheap to replace. My friend does them and is very cheap. check out some of the swaps he has done other than mine. http://picasaweb.google.com/innovativecarworks

Yea, thinking about it I highly doubt I would try it myself. You friend has a pic of the exact gauges I want, Blue numbers with White needles.

He is in Mass but he has people ship this stuff over to him all the time. Usually how he works it is if you pay for shipping to him, he will pay for it to send it back to you. Once he has the items, it only takes him a few hours to do the actually swap, then he tests it to ensure everything is working as it should, and sends it right back out. Depending on where you a shipping it from, it usually takes just a few days!

it's really not that hard if you have some soldering experience. i did the swap myself and it was fairly easy.

Right but I am talking about those who have no experience. Especially if they don't know about resistors and such. Also if they want to do their HVAC, I have seen so many ruined because they had no idea what they were doing and the screen broke. It depends on how comfortable someone is attempting something like this with the possiblities of a few hundred dollars in repairs if something does goes wrong!

i have a dedicated rework station and a desoldering handpiece specifically for the HVAC LCD...

yea... i've done plenty and can answer whatever questions ya got.. sorry i didn't reply in this thread sooner... i'm a pretty busy guy nowanddays with school and work.

but if anyone wants any work done.. i deal with shipping as well as local as well... i've done soldering work for the government on multi-million dollar machines before... and have years of experience dealing with little reworking stuff.... and plenty of scions behind my resume.

for the radio... hmm... i have a very small pencil tip iron to handle those leds... which are a bit larger than a grain of salt.

i usually suggest people to not waste their time, effort, and/or money.... if you wanna pay me the money i ask.. i'll do it.. but it's a pain regardless..

people ask me all the time how i do it without a magnifying glass..

and hey josh... who's your friend in Mass? i need to start collecting names of people that can do them for people local there that ask me. would love to see the quality of his work as well if it's possible.

if i were starting out.. never having done a tC before... and even a bit of soldering experience...

while and during the swap, reading directions.. following it step by step... taking your time... being careful.

i'd say allow yourself a good 4-5 hours including breaks to do just the gauges and the hvac.

a radio? if you've never soldered anything that small ever before... a good 2-3 hours maybe.

I've had NO experience soldering or with LEDs or resistors for that matter, and I did mine. Granted when I did My gauges, the first thing I did, I ran into a problem and attempted to fix it (though I really didnt need to) and fried My gauges. But the problem was on the FIRST LED I tried. Everything else went smooth. Bought a new set of gauges for a hundred bucks and did those no problem. This isnt a hard mod, even with no experience (if your good at figuring things out).

Just follow the gauge instructions on the link I posted. Take your time and go slow. Remember to note the polarity of each LED as you take them off, so you put them back on right. But again take your time.

The different colored gauges aren't covered in that DIY, but if you just want a solid color that will be all you need to get through it really.
